Oakland Raiders 4/28/2008 5:42:07 PM
In a move that wasn't a surprise, the Raiders released RB Dominic Rhodes. With their draft of Darren McFadden it leaves Michael Bush, Justin Fargas and LaMont Jordan to fill out the backfield...
Green Bay Packers 4/24/2008 1:12:07 PM
The Packers had free agent QB Daunte Culpepper in for a visit this week. Green Bay would like to sign a veteran backup with some experience behind Aaron Rodgers. The two QBs currently behind Rodgers have not played in an NFL game...
Cincinnati Bengals 4/23/2008 9:22:35 AM
After turning down a trade offer from Washington that included two high draft picks, Cincinnati head coach Marvin Lewis has told Chad Johnson he can sit out the season. This looks pretty ugly at the moment since the Bengals released no. 3 WR Chris Henry a few weeks ago. However, everyone has a price and a trade remains a possibility. One of the hang-ups though is Johnson's $8 million in signing bonus money that would count against the Bengals' signing cap...
Seattle Seahawks 4/23/2008 9:21:55 AM
In a move that wasn't surprising at all, Seattle has released Shaun Alexander. Injuries have impacted Alexander the last two seasons causing him to miss nine games. He also turns 31 this August and there have been question whether or not he has lost a step. After averaging 4.6 yards per rush in his first 5 seasons, Alexander has been at 3.5 the last two. He'll end up somewhere (Philadelphia?), but probably not as a featured back...
Baltimore Ravens 4/17/2008 3:01:39 PM
In somewhat of a surprise announcement only because things unfolded very quickly, Baltimore QB Steve McNair has announced his retirement. This probably shouldn't be too surprising since the 35-year-old veteran was bruised and battered last season missing 10 games. His decision leaves the Ravens with two QBs on the roster – Kyle Boller and Troy Smith – but almost certainly signals the club will take a quarterback in next week's draft. The Ravens have the eighth pick of the draft, which could net them Boston College's Matt Ryan, but there will also be opportunities in the second round...
Denver Broncos 4/17/2008 10:06:53 AM
In their effort to find a replacement for the departed WR Javon Walker (Oakland), Denver has signed free agent Darrell Jackson. Jackson was released by San Francisco last month. The eight-year veteran struggled with the 49ers last year, but the team had a multitude of QB problems. Jackson has caught 50 TD passes during his career (most of them coming while he was with Seattle), but he'll compete with Keary Colbert for the no. 2 WR job...
New York Jets 4/12/2008 12:57:47 PM
The Jets made improvements in their offensive line through free agency in recent months, but RB Thomas Jones might not be the beneficiary of these moves. Unless New York is sending up a smoke screen, they're rumored to be very interested in drafting a top RB with their first round pick at the end of this month...
New York Giants 4/12/2008 12:57:17 PM
The Jeremy Shockey trade rumors keep swirling. New Orleans continues to be the strongest rumor, but word has it that several other teams are also interested in him. We'll see if something happens on draft day...
New Orleans Saints 4/12/2008 12:56:53 PM
From a report in the Biloxi Herald, it sounds like RB Deuce McAllister has quite a ways to go to regain form. Besides the fact that the ACL tear he suffered last year was his second in the last three seasons (different knees), McAllister also had microfracture surgery on his right knee and this is the bigger concern. Recovery from this surgery is not as certain as even bouncing back from an ACL repair...
